Yoga Samadhi we teach a style of hatha yoga called Vinyasa. Vinyasa yoga
is a dynamic sequence of traditional poses linked by breath. It integrates
awareness, alignment, balance, strength, flexibility and grace . This
quintessential yoga practice evolved from the teachings of Sri T. Krisnamarchya
whose students head the 3 main forms of classical yoga taught today: Asthanga
Vinyasa Yoga (Pattabhi Jois), Iyengar Yoga (BKS Iyengar), Viniyaga (TKV
Desikachar).

- Level 1 (Vinyasa Flow): For beginning students & those interested in a less vigorous class
- Level 2 (Vinyasa Flow): Less instruction, more intense
- Ashtanga: A vigorous vinyasa style developed by Shri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore India. Our ashtanga classes are open to all levels who are ready for a physically challenging class.
- Yin: Yin yoga features seated and reclining poses passively held 3-5 minutes and focuses on releasing deep connective tissue; this approach marries asana and meditation to create a very deep and quiet practice, suitable for all levels.
- Yoga Meditation: A comprehensive and traditional approach to yoga using gentle asana and pranayama (breathing practices) as preparation for meditation. Appropriate for all levels.
- PRE-NATAL: This gentle class is designed to reduce the aches and pains, which accompany pregnancy, in a nurturing and supportive environment. We will focus on special breathing techniques, opening the hips, preparing the body for birth.
- Restorative Yoga: A practice designed to release stress and rejuvenate the body and mind. The postures are supported using blocks, blankets, or other props and are held for several minutes at a time. The more fully one feels supported, the greater the sense of relaxation. This practice is recommended for beginners, anyone suffering from injuries or stress, or to balance a more vigorous practice. Appropriate for all levels.
- Posture Focus: This class provides a forum for students to focus on a particular part of the body and to do poses that open and strengthen that designated body part. The vinyasa portion of class will be designed around what the posture focus is of the evening. Anatomy will be discussed and modifications for injuries provided. The focus will change from week to week. An excellent opportunity to explore postures more in detail and to develop a greater understanding of the alignment of a given pose and it's relationship to the parts of the body they are designed to work. Appropriate for all levels.
- Mysore Class: Mysore class is the traditional teaching method of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois for over 65 years at his school in Mysore, India. This unique style is the essence of the Ashtanga Yoga approach. His is not a led class, so we suggest that you know at least sun salutations and standing postures by heart before attending. If you're new to Ashtanga Click here (www.ashtangayogaatlanta.com) for information on ways you can begin to learn this practice.
This method is often called 'assisted or guided self-practice. On your first day of class, expect to practice only what you know by heart. With consistent attendance more postures will be added to your existing practice.
Postures in the Ashtanga series are learned one-by-one, thus easily memorized, with students practicing at a pace measured by their own breath-rhythm. The teacher provides individual instruction and assistance, tailoring the practice to specific needs of each student. With guidance and hands-on adjustments from the teacher, students receive the attention necessary to learn, work, and progress at an individual pace and ability. Working at the appropriate level, one-to-one with a teacher, is essential in developing a safe and fulfilling practice.
- Mysore Class/ Introductory class: Beginners are welcome to attend Tuesday evenings when Todd and Stephanie teach together. Time in class varies individually; new students should allow up to one hour at first.
- Yoga Trance Dance is the meeting of two great rivers: yoga and dance. Beginning with a warm up, exploration using simple prana flowing yoga to stretch and open, we then unfurl into free-form, breath driven movement - dancing to allow the pulse of full aliveness and creativity to flow! World music, stomping and clapping, drums, rhythms, voice, silence and group interactions bring about joy and spontaneous healing! The experience is complete with guided meditation, chanting and shavasana (rest).
- Yoga for Any Body (Level 1) This class offers alignment-based asana (postures), breathwork (pranayama), meditation snacks, and philosophy to help bring the union of the mind and body with the spirit. This class will focus on joy! and learning to feel proper alignment in your own body. We practice to open and awaken so that you feel more at home in the physical body and closer to your true self. Anyone can practice this yoga, regardless of body type, age, experience or physical abilities. We teach this class from a perspective of safety. This class is for those new to yoga, beginners and those that want to refine their asana practice to take their yoga beyond the mat and into life.
